This is a beaded ceremonial mask made in Ghana. Label affixed. The bead work is quite intricate and the end result is pleasing, indeed. Gold, metal appliqués for the nose and forehead are affixed to this deciduous wood mask. Excellent condition. $175. 12″ Dia. x 3.5″ D. Wt: 2 lb. 1 kg.

This is a decorative mask that is used as a wall hanging. It is carved from hardwood and stained dark brown with some ochre coloured highlights. The warrior stands strong with his many wives displayed on his head gear – in this case six. probably 30-40 years old. C. 1970. Could be older. Very good condition.

This is a decorative mask that is a lot of fun and is well created. I think it is acrylic on softwood. Black background with coloured dots of paint in the rough, modern,  pointillism style. Some pinstripe brushwork as well C. 1980. Could be older. Very good condition.

A hand carved, ceremonial hardwood mask from the Ivory Coast.  Painstakingly hollowed out to quite a smooth interior finish. The mask is rather small leading me to believe that this was made for a woman. Quite a lot of detail with a protruding, horned  high-piece. Various holes in the circumference allow it to be tied to various sized people. Definitely an antique. Early last century or previous. Excellent condition with one minor repair. No signature visible.

An African, carved tribal mask with with contrasting black stain and grey paint. It has a circumference of handmade and hand knotted hemp twine as a decorative element. Tiny, small headed nails hold the hemp in place. Believed to be softwood as it isn’t very heavy. No signature apparent. C. 1940. Excellent condition.

Spectacular Limoges porcelain urn, saturated with gold leaf and hand made florals to the main bowl and to the base to comfort the cherub’s feet. Three cherubs with arms interlocked adorn the base and support the bowl. No artist signature found. It could be a one-off piece and Limoges decided not the do an edition of it. Perfect condition.

Fascinating set of little, individual ash trays. They were used at the dinner table for people to have a cigarette in-between courses. Made in West Germany of porcelain with coated, finished interior and matt exterior. All 4 fit into their holder. Perfect craft condition.

A very elegant Sterling Silver Claret Jug. Art Nouveau. A Good Silver Mounted and Cut Glass Claret Jug, the top having a sparrow beak spout, hinged lid, broad band collar, and shaped handle.  The body is a flared, cylindrical shape with beaded vertical lines, with a star cut base.

Fully hallmarked Birmingham, maybe 1915. Elegant, says it all. Excellent condition.

Carved African female bust. African ebony hardwood. It seems that the artist has done a very professional job of using the heartwood for the bust of the woman and the rest of the wood for the border around her. Three carved African female figures. Typical of hand carving from Tanzania. African hardwood, most likely  ebony. These are a group young women going about their daily chores. One of them has a child clinging to her leg. Another is with child.  Each is carrying something on their heads and each has a small sack or satchel. Please do your own research as I am not familiar with all the ins-and-outs of African carving. Very good condition. Some sign of repairs – one to the neck of one figure.  The other could be the artist filling in a knot hole. They are on small, steel plates so that they stand up properly. Excellent condition.

A beautiful African ostrich egg that is fully beaded. Signed: “Lettie Msiza” on a small label attached to the bottom. This artwork is very exacting and she has made an integral base so that a typical tripod stand is not required. Lovely bead work, extremely colourful. It has the symbol for love which is “OXO”. Perfect condition.

Angell, Joseph. Georgian Silver (1714 – 1830). Four piece, Regency period (1811-1820), silver tea & coffee service, London, hallmarked 1818, 1819. Comprising: coffeepot, teapot, sugar bowl, and cream pitcher, each in pear form, the body hinged dome cover and circular pedestal foot repoussé with scrolling foliage and scroll form reserves. The reserves with genre scenes, lid with figural finial, leaf-capped scroll handles and swan neck spout. Note: in the 18th and 19th centuries, tea and coffee services were not produced, at one time, as a complete unit. Usually a 3 piece tea set would have been made, or a creamer & sugar, then the teapot would have been added and later a coffeepot. Silver was very expensive to buy during that period and as a result the wealthy purchased in this manner. It took two years to create this masterpiece. The detail is incredible and it’s easy to see the value and the amount of effort that went into producing this service. It has an oriental influence in the design and has cherubs frolicking and eating grapes. A wild boar is the main pouring handle anchor and the handles have ivory insulators. There are highly polished areas and filigree areas of infinite detail. Much of it done with a tiny punch and hammer from the back, to accomplish the background finish. A previous or original owner had a horse head engraved into the silver usually where the family crest or initials would go. Maybe it is a family crest. The silver tray is rare, Old Sheffield Plate (1743-1850) and is Circa: 1820. It’s a perfect match to the Joseph Angell silver service. I purchased the service and the tray at Fortunoff on Fifth Avenue, New York, NY. Museum quality. Exquisite.
